THE BEATING HEART OF 320 ROKEBY: REDEFINING FUNCTIONAL ART

Our Moorings Table basking in the natural sunlight of 320 Rokeby's boardroom.

From the first rays of sunlight filtering through the windows to the evening meetings that stretch into the night, our Moorings table is the sculptural centrepiece that sits at the heart of all the action. Nestled within 320 Rokeby, a boutique high-end commercial property shortlisted for the Australian Interior Design Awards this year - the Moorings is a bespoke piece that speaks to the unique elements of this space.

The Concept

320 Rokeby is a Donaldson Boshard Project in partnership with Rezen Studio. Designed as a modern workspace that perfectly blends together modern-day innovation and mid-century elegance, nodding playfully to architectural heritage features and foliage within the suburb. As you move through two distinct layers of space—a foyer and a boardroom—the interior design creates cohesion between the indoor and outdoor elements.

When designing the Moorings table, we sought to create a piece that seamlessly integrates with and enhances the thoughtful design by Donaldson Boshard and Rezen Studio. Our goal was to craft a statement piece that not only reflects the overall architectural vision of the property but also serves as a functional and aesthetic centerpiece within the space.

The Craftsmanship

Our tables are uniquely crafted with considered dimensions, joinery and materials to create pieces that are sculptural works of art. This particular design evokes a profound sense of vastness and mystery, offering a visual effect that is both contemplative and enhances the architectural allure. Considered spacing between tabletop and base create the illusion of a floating lightness. While hand shaped legs pay homage to the meticulously artistry and skill involved in traditional woodworking techniques. Crafted from solid timber, the Moorings not only showcases the wood's natural beauty but also its strength and durability, ensuring that this piece is as enduring as they are elegant.

Functionality Meets Style

Originally designed with the intention to serve as an elegant dining table, we followed our golden rule of allowing 600mm per person; the perfect balance between intimacy, conversation, and space for movement. The elegant simplicity and symmetry of this piece created freedom for consideration as a statement meeting table.

The considered dimensions and floating effect of the design bring a lightness and effortless calm to the space, while the natural materials and solid frame create a groundedness that balances out the room. Overall this is a practical piece of furniture that doesn’t compromise on style, and instead commands attention as a sophisticated and functional work of art.

Proudly Made on the West Coast

Handcrafted with love in our local Perth workshop, this table reflects the region’s rich tradition of quality and meticulous craftsmanship. Every aspect of its creation, from the selection of timber to its elegant finish, is done with a reverence to the artistry of the craft. Sustainability is at the heart of the process, with responsibly sourced timber ensuring that the table is not only organically beautiful, but stands the test of time. It reflects a commitment to quality, sustainability, and artistry, making it a piece that will endure and inspire for years to come

The Moorings is more than just a piece of furniture—it's a manifestation of timeless design and local craftsmanship. Its seamless blend of modern innovation with traditional woodworking techniques creates a boardroom table that not only serves its practical purpose but captures the eye as a sculptural centerpiece, embodying the spirit of the space it sits within.
